 The Very Busy Spider. Eric Carle이 지은 그림동화책으로 즐기는 영어공부 입니다.

 바쁜 거미가 주인공인 이야기입니다. 농장의 구석에서 거미집을 짓고 있는데, 말, 젖소, 양, 염소, 돼지, 강아지, 고양이, 오리, 닭이 차례로 와서 놀자고 하나 거미는 열심히 집을 만듭니다.

마침내 다 지은 거미집에 파리 한마리를 잡게 되고 밤에 나타난 올빼미가 말을 걸어도 거미는 대답없이 잠에만 빠져들게 됩니다.

 책장을 넘길수록 거미가 짓는 거미집은 점점 커지도 많은 거미줄도 생기고 손으로 만져보면 거미줄이 느껴져서 아이에게 책을 보여주면서 직접 만져보고 느끼게 하면서 읽어 준다면 더욱 좋아할 것입니다.

Early one morning the wind blew a spider across the field.
A thin, silky thread trailed from her body.
The spider landed on a fence post near a farm yard……
And began to spin a web with her silky thread.

"Neigh! Neigh!" said the horse.
"Want to go for a ride?"
The spider didn't answer. She was very busy spinning her web.

"Baa! Baa!" bleated the sheep.
"Want to run in the meadow?"
The spider didn't answer. She was very busy spinning her web.
.
.
The spider didn't answer. She had now finished her web.

"Cock-a-doodle do!" crowed the rooster.
"Want to catch a pesty fly?"
And the spider caught the fly in her web... just like that!

"Whoo? Whoo?" asked the owl.
"Who built this beautiful web?"
The spider didn't answer. She had fallen asleep.
It had been a very, very busy day.
