In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf. (환한 달빛 아래, 작은 알 하나가 나뭇잎 위에 놓여 있어요.) One Sunday morning, the sun came up and -pop!- out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar. (어느 일요일 아침, 햇님이 떠오르자 -펑!-하고 알에서 작고 몹시 배고픈 애벌레 한 마리가 나왔어요.) He started to look for some food. (애벌레는 먹을 걸 찾기 시작했어요.) On Monday he ate through one apple. But he was still hungry. (월요일에 사과 한 개를 먹었어요. 하지만 여전히 배가 고팠어요.) On Tuesday he ate through two pears. But he was still hungry. (화요일에는 배 두 개를 먹었어요. 하지만 여전히 배가 고팠어요.) On Wednesday he ate through three plums. But he was still hungry. (수요일에는 자두 세 개를 먹었어요. 하지만 여전히 배가 고팠어요.) On Thursday he ate through four strawberries. But he was still hungry. (목요일에는 딸기 네 개를 먹었어요. 하지만 여전히 배가 고팠어요.) On Friday he ate through five oranges. But he was still hungry. (금요일에는 오렌지 다섯 개를 먹었어요. 하지만 여전히 배가 고팠어요.) On Saturday he ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one ice-cream cone, one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of salami, one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake, and one slice of watermelon. (토요일에는 초컬릿 케이크 한 조각, 아이스크림 콘 한 개, 오이피클 한 개, 스위스 치즈 한 조각, 살라미 소시지 한 조각, 막대 사탕 한 개, 체리파이 한 조각, 소시지 한 개, 컵 케이크 한 개, 그리고 수박 한 조각을 먹었어요.) That night he had a stomachache! (그날 밤, 그는 배탈이 나고 말았어요!) The next day was Sunday again. (다음 날은 다시 일요일이 되었어요.) The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf, and after that he felt much better. (애벌레는 좋은 초록색 잎사귀 하나를 먹고는 훨씬 나아졌어요.) Now he wasn't hungry any more - and he wasn't a little caterpillar any more. (이제 애벌레는 더 이상 배가 고프지 않았어요. 그리고 더 이상 작은 애벌레도 아니었어요.) He was a big, fat caterpillar. (커다랗고 뚱뚱한 애벌레였지요.) He built a small house, called a cocoon, around himself. (애벌레는 몸뚱이를 둘러 번데기라는 작은 집을 지었어요.) He stayed inside for more than two weeks. (번데기 안에서 2주 넘도록 지냈어요.) Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out and... he was a beautiful butterfly! (그리고는 번데기에 구멍을 뚫더니, 밀어젖히고 밖으로 나왔어요... 애벌레는 아름다운 나비가 되었답니다!)
